Our Standards of Professional Conduct
This code establishes clear and ethical parameters for the Association of Construction Inspectors
(ACI). Failure to uphold these professional standards is grounds for temporary suspension or
revocation of membership.
- ACI members must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Members shall strive to maintain and improve professional standards in
the field of environmental assessment and be willing to assist ACI to that end.

Members shall foster and maintain transparency and particularly fairness and impartiality
- in all matters, and between all parties, involved in a construction inspection.

Members must recognize the responsibilities they have to the public, the profession,
their employers and all parties having an interest in a construction inspection.

Members shall make certain they have access to all pertinent facts which are
reasonably available before making any suggestions or drawing any conclusions in
the course of a construction inspection.

Members shall never be involved in a construction inspection where any direct or
indirect conflict of interest may be cause for concern about the final report's
objectivity.

Members must not falsely report or purposely misinterpret any information relating
to a construction inspection.

Members shall never allow a client to direct the outcome of a report or influence
the information contained in a report.

Members must be familiar with all state and federal laws that may apply to the
construction inspection being conducted.

Members shall ensure that their clients or employers fully understand all the
information presented in the final report and that any suggestions or conclusions
are carefully and fully explained.

Members shall give independent, honest and objective opinions of any reports or
information supplied to them in the course of a construction inspection,
regardless of source.

Members shall maintain their professional competence in the construction
inspection field through ongoing education.
